Chef and owner, Juan Contreras, was raised in New Orleans in a traditional Mexican household. El Gato Negro is a homage to his heritage and is an extension of his family dining room. Contreras' presence has become synonymouse with El Gato Negro as he creates an atmosphere of intimacy as he treats all of his guests like family.
